Yorktown resident Valbon Prelvukaj was arrested on Friday, March 8 in connection with the theft, which happened in February at a Staples store located at 3333 Crompond Rd. in Yorktown, the town's police department announced on Monday, March 11.

According to Yorktown Police, on Monday, Feb. 12 at around 2 p.m., Yorktown Police responded to the Staples store after the victim reported the theft. The victim told officers that she had accidentally left her wallet containing cash, her driver's license, and five credit cards on a sales counter before leaving the store.

When she returned to grab the wallet, she discovered that it was gone and figured that someone had stolen it. An officer then began an investigation and identified Prelvukaj as the suspect after reviewing security camera video, police said.

After Prelvukaj's arrest on Friday, she was charged with five counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny. She was then released on her own recognizance.
